HOME INSPO: MODERN FARMHOUSE

I remember when we started to live together our first home is so small. It was only 50 sqm with a small balcony and a very long sky terrace. It was modern, minimalist, and has a white/grey touch everywhere.

My husband was just starting his career. We have enough but not enormously abundant so we decided to go minimalist and Scandinavian-like design. Many of the furniture we have in that home we brought with us until now. However, some things change in our taste.

Now, our home has a more modern farmhouse feeling: contemporary, a bit rustical, but still very minimalist. Instead of filling the Scandinavian furniture like everyone else's home, we decided to go bold with hardwood and metal furniture.

The reason is very simple: this furniture is stronger and more durable. We opt more to have eclectic paintings combined with a more modern sofa and chairs.

I don't have any interior or design degree, but somehow I have an appetite for design, fashion, and everything aesthetic.

So what's important for me is to have a balance: a balance between being minimalist, rustical, contemporary, and ethnic. I believe you can't pursue everything at once, so there are things that need to be highlighted and toned down.

For our home: the center of attention will be the dining table. It is an Acacia wood we imported from India. It is paired with a modern table lamp and you can see a very modern farmhouse kind of vibes instantly. Since the table is already an eye-catcher, we tone down everything else. The kitchen, the chairs, and the painting are very modern, sleek, and well-blend.

Our living room is still very Scandinavian since most of the furniture we brought from our previous home. However, you can find nice plant collections on a rustical billy. On the opposite, you have a comfortable chair with an eclectic touch.

In short, our home is still a working progress. It is a combination of "let us keep this piece" and "maybe we have to upgrade".

However, it never loses that comforting touch! Because for me as a homemaker, it is what keeps family to feel at home.

If I can envision our home someday, it will be very cozy, contemporary, and eclectic, but also very strong, pragmatic, and definitely classic.

Some Inspo for my future home is just like these:
